Members can speak directly with managing director William Lockett and the wider SFG team. Lockett is personally involved in helping brokers work through business decisions and pursue opportunities for growth.
Fouracre Financial and BLANK Financial show how this business partnership with SFG works in practice. One has expanded through acquisition; the other is building a broker-partner model. Both have drawn on SFG’s support to pursue the business they want to build.
Specialist Finance Group (SFG) is a privately owned Australian mortgage aggregator, established in 1991. SFG supports its members with lender access, technology, compliance, commission services and practical business support across its national network. Its approach recognises that brokers have different ambitions, from developing an established business to pursuing acquisition, succession or expansion opportunities. Where appropriate, tailored support can include strategic advice and financial backing, supported by the technology and operational infrastructure needed for growth. SFG works alongside its members while they retain their own brand, identity and independence, helping business owners develop their businesses in the direction that is right for them.

“SFG understands our ambition, but they also understand that I want to build BLANK in our own way. I’ve never felt like we have had to compromise our identity or vision in order to grow”

Supporting growth through acquisition Fouracre Financial’s loan book recently passed $1 billion, less than three years after the business launched. An acquisition helped the business reach that milestone, with SFG providing funding and practical support through the transaction.
For founder and CEO Jack Fouracre, the challenge was securing the right deal structure while managing integration risks and maintaining service standards for existing clients. Bringing a new portfolio into the business required support with both the transaction and the work that followed.
“SFG provided critical backing throughout the process,” Fouracre says.
Alongside funding, SFG assisted with deal structuring, valuations and lender compliance requirements. It also introduced Fouracre to key partners that could help with execution.
According to Fouracre, the acquired business was integrated within three months, increasing the brokerage’s total loan book by 35% and expanding its client base. The relationship also gave him confidence to take on the acquisition.
“Personally, having SFG’s expertise and backing gave me the confidence to make a major strategic leap without feeling isolated,” he says. “For the business, it has accelerated our scale, strengthened our market presence and built a resilient foundation for long-term growth.”
BLANK Financial and broker partnerships Bernard Desmond, founder and CEO of BLANK Financial, is building a business that helps other brokers build theirs. His broker-partner model grew from his own experience of balancing client work with processing, marketing and the demands of running a business.
BLANK provides branding, marketing, credit support and loan processing, giving broker partners more time for clients, referrals and writing business. Bringing the model to life took significant investment in people and systems. Desmond says finding the right partners has been the biggest challenge: brokers who share BLANK’s values, want to grow and care about their clients.
Five founding broker partners joined within the first five months, with a sixth preparing to come on board. Desmond wants each to retain their individuality while benefiting from the resources of a larger business.
He has been with SFG for six years. When he began discussing his plans for BLANK, he already had a relationship he could draw on.
“They listened, challenged my thinking where necessary and then asked how they could help us make it happen,” he says.
Desmond values being able to pick up the phone and speak directly with SFG’s leadership. Those conversations have covered the model’s structure, lender relationships, compliance and growth strategy. SFG has also helped with introductions.
“SFG understands our ambition, but they also understand that I want to build BLANK in our own way,” he says. “I’ve never felt like we have had to compromise our identity or vision in order to grow.”
That history has led to Desmond recently signing a 25-year partnership agreement with SFG. He sees it as a commitment to a relationship tested through different stages of his career, from developing his own broking business to establishing BLANK.
“When people support you before you’ve achieved what you’re trying to achieve, you remember that,” he says.
His immediate target is 10 broker partners by the end of 2026, with an ambition to reach 100 nationally over the next five years. The priority is choosing the right people and helping each build a sustainable business. BLANK is also developing referral partnerships around Australia to create further opportunities for its brokers.
As BLANK grows, Desmond sees SFG continuing to support its lender relationships, technology and compliance needs, with strategic guidance as the business develops.
A relationship that grows with the business
Fouracre needed financial backing and business assistance to complete an acquisition and bring a larger portfolio into his business. Desmond needed an aggregator willing to understand a new business model within BLANK Financial.
Both Fouracre and Desmond found that the support from SFG helped them achieve their desired business outcomes.
SFG’s commitment extends beyond the achievement of business milestones, providing ongoing support, strategic guidance and resources to help members achieve long-term success.
