“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Nicole Triandos has built an impressive career spanning diverse roles throughout her 24 years in the financial services industry. She is still as passionate about her work today as she was when she entered the industry.
With a focus on the broking industry for the past 14 years, starting in marketing and then the last eight years as the head of partnerships and enablement at NAB, Triandos has navigated this dynamic market with a strong sense of purpose and drive.
Her innate ability to build and nurture relationships is a defining trait, forming the foundation of her professional success. This commitment to genuine connections has transformed many clients into close friends, highlighting the values of respect, responsibility, passion and vision instilled by her parents.
“My approach to leadership encompasses these critical components of what has shaped me to be the leader I am today,” she says. “I’m decisive and outcome driven; I just get on with it.”
One of her proudest career milestones was the development of NAB’s “bank behind the broker” proposition, an ambitious vision that has become a cornerstone of the company’s operations.
Triandos excels at managing relationships, although she acknowledges that the challenges, occasional setbacks and barriers to collaboration that come with it can be disheartening.
To navigate these situations, she focuses on people’s individuality and adjusts her leadership style to their needs. That might involve leading with empathy and understanding or inspiring energy and confidence in people.
She considers her recognition by MPA as an Elite Woman of 2024 an honour and a responsibility she embraces as she strives to inspire and support other women.
“While I feel that I am a natural leader, I believe that my tenacity and willingness to roll up my sleeves and collaborate with my colleagues and clients to get the best outcome, combined with my love for the industry, are what set me apart,” she says.
“Each woman named in MPA’s Elite Women of 2024 has qualities that make them stand out,” she adds. “Collectively, if we can be role models for other women, whether looking to grow their business, move into a leadership role or take the first step in the broking industry, that would be the ultimate honour.”
Triandos believes that as the industry works towards increasing female representation in broking, everyone has a role in designing the blueprint for moving forward.
She credits an inclusivity mindset at NAB as instrumental in supporting women at all levels of the business through various initiatives, such as professional development programs, internal sponsorship from senior management, and a 50/50 male-to-female graduate intake.
“It’s also a responsibility I take personally,” she says. “I am dedicated to creating inclusive and equitable workplaces that foster respect and encourage authenticity – not only does this help break down barriers for women, but also for colleagues who may face additional barriers due to age, cultural background or being part of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
