Over the past 19 years, Christa Malkin’s experience has given her a comprehensive view of the industry from all angles. She moved from Northern England to Australia in 2006, bringing with her a degree from the London College of Fashion and experience at global sportswear giant Nike.
Despite her background, Malkin found herself in the finance sector, starting as a BDM at Bankwest, and she absolutely loved it. Over the years, she has done numerous leadership roles within third party on the banking side, and after starting a family in 2019, she returned to the industry and to AFG where she has been appointed to the role of general manager of aggregation.
Day to day, she leads state managers nationwide to ensure that they and their teams are equipped with what they need to offer outstanding support to brokers and help them to achieve their business goals. She works closely with internal teams to develop and deliver on the firm’s strategy, always seeking new opportunities to add value to the organization’s members.
In her personal life, Malkin is married to an Australian and has an Aussie-speaking five-year-old child who keeps her on her toes. She is a lover of horseracing and has ownership in more racehorses than she cares to mention, so much so that she took a break from finance for a couple of years to do a stint as general manager for Ciaron Maher Racing, one of the largest training operations in the country.
As parenting and working full time doesn’t leave much space for racing these days, she prioritises time with her family, cooking, keeping fit and healthy, and enjoying some bubbles or a good red.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
“I’ve always believed that if you love what you do, you’ll never settle, and that attitude has guided every decision I’ve made,” he adds.
