“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”

When Fatima Dib talks about her career, what stands out is her unshakable belief that “life is limitless.”
That phrase shapes how she works, leads, and inspires. It is a mindset that has guided her through both planned choices and unexpected turns. Today, it defines her impact as head of business innovation at Finsure and one of MPA’s Elite Women for 2025.
Dib’s path to mortgage broking was not one she mapped out from the start. Early on, she imagined a corporate career, with or without children. Life, however, had other ideas. She became a single mother of four young children and had to rethink everything.
“This shift required me to reinvent myself to ensure I could support my family emotionally and financially,” she says.
Despite having trained as an accountant, she realised she had limited financial literacy and had relied on her ex-husband for decisions. That insight sparked a drive to change. Mortgage broking offered both financial opportunity and flexibility. It also opened a way to help others, especially women in similar situations.
“I started a business that combined mortgage broking, financial planning and conveyancing, and from the outset, I had a strong desire to support women in similar situations,” she explains.
That drive led to the creation of the iWoman Project. The “i” stands for “independent,” a word that holds deep meaning for Dib. Eventually, she seized the opportunity to join Finsure and has thrived in a leadership role she did not initially envision.
Leading a team of over 40 across several countries, Dib supports brokers and advisers in Australia and New Zealand. She sees this as her greatest professional accomplishment.
“I’m also proud to develop pathways, particularly for women with limited opportunities, to ensure they flourish in their chosen career, have the support necessary to succeed and step into leadership roles within a global organisation,” she says.
Dib sees technological change as one of the biggest challenges in her role. She doesn’t see it as a threat. For her, it is about using new tools to do more and do it better. She puts the focus on structured training and keeps the lines of communication open. That way, her team stays confident and ahead of the curve.
She also works hard to build a culture where collaboration and daring are the norm. This allows her team to see innovation as an opportunity for growth.
Asked what makes her stand out among MPA’s Elite Women, Dib responds with humility. She credits her unique mix of work and life experience and says, “I can read the room and connect the dots to ensure I seize every opportunity, and if there is not one that arises, then look to create one.” She also points to the hundreds of women she believes deserve equal recognition.
Dib’s legacy is shaped by her belief that people and relationships matter most. She wants to be remembered as a leader who created space for ideas to grow and for people to feel seen and heard. The recent Women in Finsure Scholarship – an initiative she has driven – is testament to that.
“I am relentlessly committed to creating more opportunities and optimised pathways for women within our industry,” she says. “By widening our footprint and empowering women to rise, I hope to challenge norms and pave the way for a more inclusive future. My legacy will reflect my dedication to elevating others, ensuring that the next generation has access to possibilities that allow them to thrive.”
