“I’m proud of the relationships we’ve built and the positive impact we’ve had on people’s lives by securing the right mortgages for them”
David Thomas, Trilogy Funding
Evan Christie’s journey from semi-professional tennis to successful mortgage brokering reflects a unique transition. Formerly ranked in Australia’s top 100 tennis players, he shifted gears at the suggestion of his father, who ran an accounting practice. Despite his tennis success, Evan recognised the limitations of a sustainable career in the sport.
Motivated by a passion for math, problem-solving and helping others, Evan embraced the world of finance at age 21. He began as a credit assessor at a credit union for a year before gaining 18 months of valuable experience at Mortgage Choice. Subsequently, he established his own business, working alongside his family on the same premises as his father’s accounting practice.
Evan’s early years were dedicated to researching policies from various lenders. Since 2016, he has expanded his team, witnessing a substantial increase in volumes by 2020. Looking ahead, he foresees the coming year as the strongest yet for his thriving business, marking a remarkable evolution from the tennis court to financial success.

By providing tailored solutions that align specifically with a client’s financial goals and circumstances, Thomas and his team deliver the best loan options for their needs. From the team’s perspective, their commitment to continuous education and communication ensures their clients are well informed and supported throughout their financial journey.
“Our success in the past 12 months has been our dedication to staying informed and educating our existing and potential clients,” Thomas says. “By actively participating in seminars, creating informative content and providing excellent service, we have attracted new clients and strengthened relationships with existing ones. Our commitment to annual financial reviews has been a significant factor in retaining and expanding our client base.”
The future looks bright for Thomas, who plans to expand the team’s educational initiatives to reach a broader audience through mediums such as their podcast, Your Lending Era. He also aims to continue growing their client base by providing valuable information and excellent service. Those efforts are rounded out by a push to increase their annual financial reviews, ensuring clients remain on the path to financial success.
“Additionally, we plan to explore new avenues for client engagement and outreach to adapt to the evolving financial landscape,” he says.
What are his plans for the future?
On a business level, “more of the same. I will continue to empower and encourage my staff to perform at their best as I have done for the last decade. I will continue to advocate for my clients, embracing new technology and being open to business and industry changes.”
On a personal level, Dixon invests significant time, effort and funds, along with his GT3, to support many charities through his passion for motorsport. From participating in and sponsoring the Thunderbolt Run (which provides tens of thousands of dollars in support for Beyond Blue and Prostate Cancer), to organising and running the Track Knights for Amira charity night where 28 Exotic Supercars raised funds through passenger laps in wet conditions, Dixon states “this is our time to give back to the community and those in need. My friendships and association with those seeking to do the same, allows us to contribute to those less fortunate and raise funds and awareness”.
He adds: “To be able to give back to the community is rewarding and fulfilling. I am honoured to be in a position where I can raise funds for those less fortunate and in need.”
