“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Rachael Howlett didn’t plan on a career in finance, but after meeting Infinity Group co-founder Graeme Holm, she took a leap of faith and joined the brokerage in 2017 after being a client for seven years.
She started as a relationship manager, transitioned to broker support in 2019 and became a qualified mortgage broker and finance strategist in May 2023. This career progression exemplifies her commitment to guiding clients to achieve financial freedom and stability.
Howlett’s dedication to her craft earned her a spot on MPA’s Top 50 Brokers list in her first year in the industry. She earned further recognition again in 2024 as one of MPA’s Top 100 Brokers for achieving outstanding residential home loan volumes.
“I dove in and made the most of every opportunity,” says Howlett. “From day one, I embraced every chance to contribute and came fully prepared to help clients immediately without relying heavily on colleagues.”
A key challenge in her current role is managing clients’ expectations, especially when they aim for ambitious goals inspired by success stories they’ve heard.
“I approach these situations with empathy, helping clients to recognise the silver lining in their unique achievements,” Howlett says.
For example, she recently helped a couple who, after a serious wake-up call from a motorcycle accident, cleared all their owner-occupier debt within 15 months. By restructuring their loan and guiding them through important decisions, they now own their home outright, hold four investment properties and have attained financial security.
Another notable case came in 2023, when Howlett helped a client reduce their mortgage from $550,000 to $130,000 in just nine months.
Reflecting on her work, she says, “These examples remind me why I love what I do, which is to make a tangible, lasting impact on people’s lives.”
What sets Howlett apart professionally is her ability to connect with clients on a genuinely relatable level. She credits her empathy, challenging early years and upbringing for this quality, which she views as a core strength.
“I’ve often shed tears in meetings because I’m truly there with my clients, feeling what they’re going through,” she says.
Howlett also excels at explaining complex financial concepts in ways that make sense without talking down to clients. Her education-first approach has fuelled her transformation into a leader, mother figure and role model, showing clients what’s possible with the right guidance and support.
A major part of her client attraction strategy comes from Infinity Group’s Money Mentor Masterclasses. These two-day educational events invite clients to learn in an obligation-free setting.
Howlett says, “Empowering clients with financial literacy also sets me apart from other brokers. I provide ongoing education through monthly Zoom sessions on topics such as insurance updates and debt reduction, often featuring guest experts in financial planning and tax. This education-first approach contributed to helping 10 clients purchase investment properties in 2023, adding over $13 million to my loan book.”
Howlett remains focused on supporting clients through tailored strategies and ongoing financial education. She also aims to expand her role as a mentor within Infinity Group, guiding colleagues and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
“I want to be the mentor I wish my family had so no child has to face unnecessary financial hardship,” she says.
