Back in 2015, Neighbourhood Holdings sprouted from a single-family investment office with a big vision. The company’s mission is to provide people in Canada with accessible and simple mortgage financing underpinned by common-sense lending practices while delivering stable income for investors.
Spotting a gap in the rigid mortgage market, which banks largely control, Neighbourhood realized that many people needed to be included. The company’s specialty is granting mortgage financing to individuals temporarily sidelined from traditional bank lending, including those who are self-employed, working through a life event such as divorce, or bridging the gap between real estate transactions (and, therefore, temporarily outside the bank lending space).
The team at Neighbourhood is agile and constantly evolving to ensure they are providing solutions that address the market’s needs. The company is data-driven, energetic, fueled by ambition and obsessed with customer service.
Like a community, the staff sticks together and cares for its stakeholders: brokers, investors and borrowers. The business is built on people who take their work, but not themselves, seriously. Because of that, every team member can bring their unique selves to work every day, which is a cornerstone of its culture.

“The leaders of Bendelta are everyone who works here,” says Mitchell. “Everyone at Bendelta is truly a leader and that is what has enabled our sustained high performance. This is not a platitude, it is how Bendelta is designed. Every person here knows that they have a leadership opportunity and responsibility, and that they have the licence to take whatever initiative might help make ‘a better Bendelta’ become a reality.”
Perhaps their most important current strategy is creating the infrastructure (in many different forms) to enable them to scale up while making work easier, not harder. This includes investing in systems, technology, and new leadership roles to boost efficiency and productivity. They’ve always had great people doing great work, but they are now making this much more supported and sustainable.
This may sound a little dull compared to the excitement of some of their other strategies, but it means that their people will get better outcomes from their effort, which makes that effort feel much more worthwhile.
Working with Bendelta, clients can expect that:
Everyone they deal with will be talented and incredibly dedicated
They will listen to understand
They will be solution-focused, emphasising what is best for the client
They will strive to deliver excellence
They won’t have to worry about any internal frictions or competition
