Dalia Barsoum has worked in the mortgage industry for 11 years. She is the founder of Streetwise Mortgages, a mortgage brokerage specialising in income property financing, and of Streetwise Wealth, a boutique real estate wealth advisory firm. In these roles, Barsoum has focused on financing income properties, including residential, multi-family, mixed-use and residential construction projects.
Barsoum’s day-to-day activities are divided into four main categories, which start with knowledge sharing and educating her clients on the market in general as well as key aspects of the real estate business, such as how to be successful in investing and what potential pitfalls to avoid. She also updates her clients on the latest emerging trends in the market.
Second, she continuously develops and enhances her company’s processes and methodology to improve the advisory and planning services that senior advisors provide to clients, ensuring they are getting the best advice to build their investment portfolios and meet their financial goals.
Next, Barsoum focuses on developing new and enhancing existing relationships with lenders and alternative sources of financing to make sure Streetwise Mortgages’ clients have the financing partners they need to close their deals.
Finally, she builds on relationships with the firm’s network of supporting partners, including realtors, appraisers, lawyers and accountants and sharing this trusted group with its clients as needed.
Barsoum started out in real estate investing for herself over 20 years ago while working at the wealth management division of one of Canada’s top banks. Her personal experience of investing in real estate, combined with traditional wealth management experience, helped her identify a huge gap in the market, where real estate investors did not have advisors to help them strategically plan for their investment. She also uses her experience to build a true portfolio view so that she can manage the risks while at the same time growing her customers’ income property holdings.
This is why she built Streetwise Mortgages – to go beyond approving individual deals and to start planning a strategic view of financing to enable her clients to build a real estate investment portfolio that meets their specific individual goals.
Since she first joined the industry, Barsoum’s aim for Streetwise Mortgages has remained unchanged – to help clients financially prosper through property investing and help them create abundance, peace of mind and time freedom. She explained that this is achieved by being a trusted advisor and partner for all things related to the financing of their investment properties.
Up until earlier this year, Barsoum’s brokerage had been focused on serving clients in Ontario. However, she has announced expansion plans to serve six more provinces from BC to Nova Scotia. The goal is to provide the same level of success to as many Canadians as she did for her clients in Ontario.
