A mortgage agent at Mortgage Scout Inc., Jaskaran Sidhu originally planned for a career as a lawyer or chartered accountant. But after landing his first banking job in 2015, he quickly became passionate about the mortgage and lending industry. Today, he is funding major deal after major deal, and has quickly become one of Canada’s Rising Stars.
A first-generation Canadian born to East Indian parents, Sidhu is from a family that has worked in farming and in the service industry their whole life. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Business and Managerial Economics from the University of British Colombia and landed his first role with CIBC, where he gained experience in personal and business banking.
“I realized my love for lending very early on, as it gave me joy to help people purchase their first home and plan for future purchases,” Sidhu recalls.
He gained further experience in business banking with TD Canada Trust, where he specialized in agricultural lending. His journey in the mortgage space began in 2019, when he became a mobile mortgage specialist for BMO. In 2022, he joined Mortgage Scout Inc. where he is a licensed mortgage agent, and he funded his first major mortgage deal in March.
Sidhu quickly became known for his talent for working with clients, developing a strong referral network, and hitting the ground running with major transactions. He has funded over $15 million deals to date, and has a number of other major transactions in the pipeline.
“It wasn’t until 2022, when I joined Mortgage Scout Inc., that I realised my full potential to work in a fully commission-earning role,” Sidhu says.
“With the continued support from my seniors and colleagues, not to mention my life partner, I believe I have chosen the right path. I am hoping for continued success and for more opportunities to help people.”
