“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”
Danny Ibrahim,
KeyRate Mortgage
In June 2024, Charlie Prince took a risk that defined her career. After three and a half years working under others, she launched Charlie. cabinet en courtage hypothécaire in Quebec, stepping into the uncertainty of entrepreneurship with only her determination to guide her.
Prince’s path into brokering was anything but planned. She started in finance at Desjardins, still unsure of where she belonged. Then two financial planners approached her with a request to manage mortgage clients. She took on the files and discovered that mortgages were less about numbers and more about people making pivotal life decisions.
That realization turned what had seemed like a stopgap role into a vocation. “To be completely honest, I didn’t set out with a grand plan to become a mortgage broker, but life has a way of guiding you where you’re meant to be,” she says.
Her identity as a broker is anchored in availability and transparency. Clients know she will answer questions directly and guide them step by step through transactions that often carry both financial and emotional weight. She emphasizes trust as her defining quality, one that flows naturally into her relationships with business partners and colleagues. This has built lasting client loyalty.
Leadership decisions have reshaped her practice. At first, Prince tried to manage every file herself. By early 2025, exhaustion set in. A mentor reminded her that she could not sustain growth alone, and she listened.
Hiring an underwriter and later working alongside another broker allowed her to balance volume with service quality. Delegation shifted from fear to confidence, turning her small brokerage into a team capable of handling scale without losing its personal edge.
The results have been tangible. Within the first three months of 2025, her office approved 93 files worth $36 million. By spring, that figure had grown to 253 disbursed files and $100 million in volume. Yet she points to the workplace atmosphere as the more meaningful achievement. The collaboration between her, underwriter Nathalie, and broker Daphney has created a workplace where client service and team culture reinforce each other.
Differentiators are visible in how she structures operations. Nathalie manages the back office with precision, while Daphney independently oversees complete files. Prince maintains client relationships, steering them through decisions around purchases, renewals, and refinancing. Any overflow is passed on to trusted brokers in her network, ensuring service consistency. This balance of structure and flexibility has allowed the business to grow quickly without sacrificing standards.
Recognition as one of CMP’s Rising Stars for 2025 adds weight to her approach. Prince treats it as validation. “Being named a Rising Star won’t change the way I work,” she says. “I see this recognition not as a finish line but as motivation to keep pushing myself to always do better.”
Her future priorities are clear. Prince wants to expand client education, scale her team further, and continue supporting the non-profit where she serves on the board for children with disabilities.
