“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”
Danny Ibrahim,

Taylor Hutchinson has built his career on the same values that have kept him rooted in Alberta for more than 20 years, with stability, trust, and long-term relationships at the core.
As a broker with Mortgage Architects, he has taken a customer-first approach that prioritizes empathy and straightforward guidance in an industry that can often feel transactional. That mindset has already earned him recognition on CMP’s Rising Stars of 2025 list.
His start in the mortgage business did not follow the typical route through the banks. “I planned to surround myself with the best team and learn as much as possible so I can provide the best service to clients,” he says. “Not coming from a traditional banking background, I was able to take in the mortgage world as I saw it and was able to create my own style of customer service that I feel has worked well for me.”
Early on, the challenge was proving that he could make a career in the business. Getting past the first six months was the biggest hurdle. Once he saw he could support his family through this work and help people secure home ownership, the foundation was set. That moment remains his proudest achievement.
Scaling the business has been the harder test. Hutchinson admits he waited too long to bring in help, and staying ahead of technology has required constant attention. Yet the experience reinforced the importance of building processes that can grow with the business rather than slow it down.
Colleagues and clients alike point to his empathy as a defining quality. Hutchinson sees it as the cornerstone of his success. He believes that people need to feel their broker has their back, especially during what is often one of the most stressful financial decisions of their lives. His mix of empathy, sound advice, and strong communication has helped him build trust from the start.
Guidance has also played a key role. Hutchinson spent his first six months in the industry shadowing a seasoned broker, taking in everything from how to structure files to how to handle rate discussions. He says those months shaped his career path, giving him technical grounding and the confidence to navigate the business.
The lessons from that time, such as asking hard questions, digging into details, and watching strategies play out, remain part of his approach today. He has also come to see his relative inexperience as an advantage. Without ingrained habits, he has been free to form his own approach to serving clients. That openness has kept him adaptable in a market that demands both speed and personal connection.
About this recognition, he says, “It is an honour to be named a Rising Star, and it’s reassuring to know what I’ve been doing so far is working, and I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing.”
Outside of work, Hutchinson is anchored by family life with his wife and three children. He spends his spare time at the rink, on the golf course, or cheering on a football game. The same sense of balance and long-term perspective carries into his career, where he focuses on taking one step at a time and doing right by his clients.
“Whether it’s for a first home, a refinance, or a new investment, my goal is always the same, which is to make the process simple, stress-free, and tailored to each client’s needs,” he adds.
