“No matter how many clients I have, I make sure to call each one personally every quarter. It’s a chance to not only update them on their portfolio, but also check on how they’re doing personally”

Meaghan Hastings didn’t plan to become a mortgage broker, but it wasn’t a fluke. She has always been focused on growth and career improvement within and outside the mortgage industry, but she had a clear vision for herself and the company she founded, The Mortgage Coach.
As CEO and principal broker, Hastings considers the career she has curated an outstanding achievement. Not one to celebrate her accomplishments, she doesn’t hesitate to acknowledge the hard work and incredible success of her agents and the brokerage itself.
“Being able to do what I love every day, surrounded by the best team, in the environment that I envisioned, is a big achievement,” Hastings says.
Taking a measured approach to implementing projects and initiatives helps keep the Elite Woman of 2023 balanced and on track, which is no easy feat for someone who aims to do it all. She never shies away from hard work, whether in her charitable work, coaching designations, professional development, or co-chairing the parent council at her children’s school.
“I love being able to be of service, and I truly enjoy the variety of having multiple interests and projects,” she says.
Hastings has learned to overcome multiple challenges by surrounding herself with a team and partners who support her vision, champion her strengths, and offer constructive feedback with honesty. Those interactions allow her to operate without hubris while dispelling the myth that, as women, they have to do it all themselves.
“The value of having good people around me and fostering a company culture of collaboration, honesty, support, and cheering each other on cannot be overstated,” she says.
Hastings has built a reputation as a servant leader, supporting agents in reaching their goals and ensuring they have the necessary tools to advance to the next level and achieve success. She is calm, remains level-headed even in the most trying circumstances, and focuses on achieving goals without letting her ego get in the way, allowing her to see the big picture from different perspectives.
I am not just open to ideas and opposing views, but I value hearing them; it is just one of the many reasons I value the culture within the brokerage,” she says. “I’m here for the long haul and will continue to have a clear vision for the future of The Mortgage Coach. By showing up consistently and keeping an eye on growth, each step will propel us to continued success.”
