Profile
After nearly 40 years with RBC, Corinne Schindler made the bold decision to leave the security of a highly successful corporate career and launch Powerhaus, where she now serves as CEO and founder.
Walking away from nearly four decades with one of Canada’s largest financial institutions wasn’t easy. It meant leaving certainty to build something she believed clients deserved even more: truly independent mortgage advice where their goals – not a single lender’s products – always come first.
“My vision was to create a brokerage where clients receive unbiased advice, exceptional service, and access to more choice than any single institution can provide,” she says. “I’ve always believed that one option is not an option. Every client deserves advice built around their goals.”
Schindler’s career wasn’t the result of a master plan but of embracing opportunities, working hard, and staying true to her values. Those experiences ultimately led her to build a company that reflects everything she believes exceptional client care should be.
As Powerhaus continues to grow, maintaining its personalized approach remains her greatest priority. “Growth only matters if we never lose sight of why we built Powerhaus in the first place,” she says. “Every client deserves thoughtful advice, genuine care, and an experience that feels personal from beginning to end. That means building an exceptional team, creating strong processes, and ensuring every decision reflects integrity, collaboration, and putting our clients first.”
Being a woman in the mortgage industry never defined Schindler’s limitations – it strengthened her resolve.
“I never saw being a woman as something that held me back,” she says. “I always considered myself a contender. I never gave energy to the idea that I wasn’t worthy or capable. Quite the opposite. I believed that if I worked hard, stayed authentic, and consistently delivered results, opportunities would follow.”
Today, that same mindset shapes the culture at Powerhaus, where diversity of thought, collaboration, and mutual respect are foundational values.
Schindler believes her purpose extends far beyond helping clients purchase homes.
“I believe real estate is one of the greatest vehicles for building financial security and generational wealth,” she says. “Our mission is to help clients achieve their real estate dreams at every stage of life – whether that’s buying a first home, financing a custom build, expanding a commercial portfolio, investing for the future, or helping older Canadians remain in the homes they love through a reverse mortgage.”
She believes every mortgage begins with listening.
“Every client deserves advice that reflects their unique goals and circumstances,” she says. “Success isn’t simply arranging financing – it’s ensuring clients feel educated, supported, and confident in one of the most important financial decisions they’ll ever make.”
Beyond serving clients, Schindler is passionate about mentoring the next generation of mortgage professionals and raising the standard of client care across the industry.
“I hope Powerhaus becomes known not simply for the mortgages we arrange, but for the trust we earn, the relationships we build, and the positive impact we have on the lives of others,” she says. “If my journey encourages even one person – especially another woman – to believe in themselves, embrace change, and pursue something bigger than they imagined, then I’ll consider that one of my greatest accomplishments.”
For Schindler, success has never been measured by awards or titles.
“It’s measured by the lives we touch, the dreams we help make possible, and the legacy we leave through the people we serve.”
