“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”
Danny Ibrahim,
KeyRate Mortgage
Danny Ibrahim built his career through equal parts intention and instinct. He set education goals early, gained experience, and worked toward leadership. Along the way, he stayed open to opportunities that pushed him in new directions and helped shape the path he is now on.
That sense of focus still guides how he works. Today, he’s the principal broker and CEO of KeyRate Mortgage, an independent brokerage recognized multiple times by CMP as one of Canada’s top-performing firms. CMP named Ibrahim one of the Top 75 Brokers 2025 in the country, recognizing his strong funded volumes in a year defined by unpredictability.
He also leads Mortgage Fund Capital (MFC), a private lending firm he launched with $100,000 in managed funds. Within 18 months, the company grew to $70 million, with a target to reach $300 million by the end of 2025.
Technology played a key role in that expansion. At MFC, Ibrahim uses platforms such as Mortgage Automator to streamline operations and reduce manual errors. Across his businesses, he emphasizes strong communication, shared accountability, and building trust with clients and staff.
Alongside his mortgage operations, Ibrahim co-founded Bear Sterling Law Group in 2023. The firm, based in Ottawa and expanding into Toronto, focuses on real estate, estate planning, corporate law, and litigation.
“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders,” he says. “In the mortgage industry, where people are making major financial decisions, trust is everything. I take pride in being transparent, consistent, and solution focused.”
His view of leadership centres on creating something lasting. At KeyRate, he continues to work closely with his team while growing his book of business, with the long-term goal of passing the company on to the next generation.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
