Starting his career in 2015 with TD Retail Banking, Walid Mutahar quickly rose through the ranks to become a financial advisor. In 2018, inspired by a friend’s encouragement, he took a leap of faith into the mortgage industry. Joining a brokerage team, he gained hands-on experience and deep industry knowledge, trading high commission splits for invaluable mentorship.
By 2021, his growing client base demanded full focus, prompting a move to Mortgage Centre/Get A Better Mortgage. Since then, Mutahar has funded over $240 million in mortgage volume, achieving consistent year-over-year growth. His team is built on a client-first philosophy – hosting multiple appreciation events annually and collaborating with small businesses to foster mutual success.

A significant part of his focus today is staying ahead of regulatory change while maintaining a seamless client experience. He tracks updates from regulators and lenders closely and works with his teams to adjust systems as needed.
“My approach to my role and my career has always been rooted in passion, focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he says. “I’ve never been driven solely by profit or business metrics. I believe in hiring great talent, trusting them, and pushing boundaries because innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe.”
His experience isn’t limited to Canada. Ibrahim has worked in the US and UAE, which shaped his global perspective and comfort with adapting to different markets. He thrives on risk, viewing setbacks as stepping stones to progress.
