Avish Buck is a visionary leader in Canadian financial services who brings strategic thinking and operational excellence to everything he does. As chief operating officer of MCAN Financial and president of MCAN Home Mortgage, he’s transformed the company’s mortgage business, driving growth exceeding 250 percent while delivering shareholder returns surpassing 175 percent and consistently achieving returns on equity above 15 percent.
With over 15 years of industry experience spanning senior roles at First National Financial LP and MCAN, Buck has built expertise across underwriting, portfolio management, technology, risk, and investor relations. His educational foundation is equally strong – he holds a CPA and CFA designation, an MBA from Queen’s University, and an Honours Commerce degree from McMaster University. Recently, he completed Harvard Business School’s prestigious Advanced Management Program, further deepening his global perspective.
Beyond the boardroom, Buck is committed to industry advancement, serving as treasurer for the Mortgage-Backed Securities Issuer Association and advising Lotly’s Board. He’s spearheaded cultural transformation initiatives that have earned national recognition, championing purpose-driven leadership throughout the organization.
