“My role is to bring structure, clarity and calm into complex situations”
Simi Sethu,
Kripa Financial Solutions
Simi Sethu built Kripa Financial Solutions with a clear purpose: to give families practical, informed guidance within New Zealand’s financial system. Now recognised as an NZ Adviser Elite Woman 2026, she has grown a two‑person start‑up into a nine‑member advisory firm while keeping community impact at the centre of her work. Today, the majority of her team are women—reflecting her commitment to creating opportunities, representation and leadership pathways within the industry.
Her path into financial advice was unplanned. Beginning her career in sales and financial services, she developed a talent for understanding client needs and translating complex concepts into simple, relatable language. Working closely with families and new migrants, she saw how many struggled with lending rules and unfamiliar processes. Clients increasingly turned to her for guidance beyond her formal role—trust that ultimately inspired her to gain qualifications and co‑found Kripa Financial Solutions.
Kripa now provides mortgage advice and personal risk insurance nationwide. With more than 14 years of experience across banking, lending and advisory roles, Sethu is known for breaking down financial concepts so clients can make confident decisions. Her approach blends empathy with cultural awareness, particularly for communities that often feel excluded from traditional financial conversations.
Strengthening systems to support growth
One of her ongoing challenges is balancing the deeply personal nature of advice with rising regulatory demands. Clients come to her during pivotal life moments—buying a first home, restructuring finances, or protecting their family’s future. They need time, reassurance and clear explanation. At the same time, the industry requires rigorous documentation and constant attention to compliance.
Over the past four years, Sethu has built a robust internal system that allows her to concentrate more on advising while ensuring the firm maintains strong compliance, consistent service standards and operational efficiency. This structure has supported year‑on‑year growth in volume, driven by disciplined processes and a client‑first philosophy.

ELITE WOMEN 2024 JUDGE
Community impact across New Zealand
Kripa’s expansion is fuelled not only by referrals and returning families but also by Sethu’s commitment to community education. Her work is not limited to Auckland; she travels to multiple cities to conduct free financial seminars, support cultural associations and provide accessible guidance to families who often lack trusted sources of financial information. These sessions—covering topics such as first‑home buying, lending rules and financial wellbeing—have strengthened her reputation as a reliable, culturally aware adviser.
“My role is to bring structure, clarity and calm into complex situations, so families can make decisions with confidence,” she says. That strength extends to the advisers she mentors. She provides clear frameworks and expectations that help new advisers deliver consistent advice while maintaining accountability.
Leadership built from the ground up
As a woman in financial services, Sethu’s early challenges included mastering complex processes and building infrastructure without the backing of a large institution. Establishing Kripa required creating licensing structures, training systems and transparent service standards from the ground up. Those demands strengthened her leadership and sharpened her operational focus.
Being recognised as an Elite Woman reinforces her sense of responsibility. “Visibility matters, and when people see someone who has built a career through integrity, consistency and client‑centred service, it can encourage them to pursue their own goals with confidence,” she says.
Looking ahead, she believes the industry would benefit from clearer development pathways for professionals balancing career and family responsibilities. More flexible mentoring and broader performance measures, she says, would help retain talent and strengthen advice standards.
Her ambition is to help shape an industry where clients feel informed and advisers work within well‑designed systems that support ethical, high‑quality guidance. Through Kripa Financial Solutions, Sethu continues to build a firm defined by transparency, accountability and community‑focused mortgage advice—powered by a predominantly women‑led team committed to lifting families and communities across New Zealand.
