“My strongest professional quality is my ability to build trust and long-term relationships, whether with clients, colleagues, or stakeholders”
Danny Ibrahim,
KeyRate Mortgage
Supreet Mahey built his business on consistency. Clients know they can count on him to be honest and focused on getting results.
As a Mike Pero Mortgages franchise owner, he’s earned trust by being transparent and genuinely invested in helping people reach their goals. What started as a curiosity about how the finance world works quickly became a career driven by purpose, determination and a commitment to delivering for his clients.
“That’s why I was thrilled when I found the chance to work as a mortgage adviser,” he says. “Later on, I was excited to have the opportunity to purchase an existing Mike Pero Mortgages franchise.”
His approach is hands-on and client-focused, with an emphasis on understanding the weight of each decision clients face and the urgency that often comes with it. “The biggest challenge is managing stress when you’re working with tight deadlines and your clients are counting on you to do your best to help them succeed.”
That philosophy earned him a place on NZ Adviser’s 2025 Top Advisers list, which ranks brokers by verified residential loan volumes settled between March 2024 and February 2025.
Over the years, he’s worked with a wide range of clients, including many who came to him feeling defeated after being turned down elsewhere. Those are the cases he remembers most. “I’ve been fortunate to have many achievements throughout my career, but one of the most rewarding moments was when I could help clients who had lost hope after trying major banks or other mortgage advisers and guide them towards achieving their financial goals,” Mahey explains.
A strong communicator who prides himself on making the process feel straightforward and supportive, he believes his most important role is to create an environment where clients feel at ease. “Making your clients feel comfortable and building trust that they are in good hands is key. It’s important to communicate clearly and keep your clients informed every step of the way, making the entire experience smooth and reassuring,” he says.
That mindset carries through every part of his business. He invests in consistent marketing strategies, including Google campaigns, Facebook outreach and annual reviews, while placing equal weight on client feedback.
“Your customers’ feedback is a valuable gift, helping you improve and grow,” he adds. “By listening and responding thoughtfully, you build stronger relationships and show how much you care about their experience.”
Mahey’s success over the past year has been driven by continuous learning, improved internal processes and a focus on customer service. He stays up to date with lender policy changes and remains committed to product knowledge.
In the months ahead, he plans to keep refining his systems, building his team and deepening engagement with clients across all channels. At the heart of it, he keeps things simple. He stays positive and keeps learning and, most importantly, treats people well.
