While much of the mortgage industry waits for referrals to come through the door, Michael Anastasiadis has spent the past year filming reels. The Bozinoff Mortgages owner has built a deliberate social media presence aimed at first-home buyers and property owners, posting regularly with topical, relevant information delivered in an entertaining way. That strategy has helped earn him a place among NZA’s Top Advisers for 2026, a recognition he describes as the single biggest achievement of his career, made sweeter by the gap since he last made the list.
“It has been a long time between drinks from my initial recognition in 2021 and last time in 2022,” he says.
The social-first approach was the plan from the outset, built around meeting as many people as possible and growing an audience online. It has also become his answer to a difficult market. The Wellington property slowdown has been the central challenge of recent times, and Anastasiadis has met it head-on.
“I have just had to do more prospecting and increase my social media with more entertaining reels,” he says, sharpening his focus on first-home buyers as the most active segment in the capital.
Anastasiadis bought Bozinoff Mortgages in 2024 after nine years as an adviser, and his attitude to the work is rooted in something other than metrics. He says, “I feel very blessed and have an attitude of gratitude. I do my best every day for my clients and take genuine pleasure in assisting them with their home ownership journey.”
If asked to name what his strongest professional quality is, Anastasiadis’ answer is a single word that cuts both ways: trust, earned from clients and banks alike. Trust with lenders is hard-won. Anastasiadis attends all his industry training and is not afraid to reach out to peers or lenders to workshop more complex deals and secure an approval. A self-described early adopter, he volunteers for new products and services rather than be left behind, an instinct that mirrors his willingness to embrace new platforms on the client-facing side.
Anastasiadis’ retention model flows from the same sources as attraction. Social media draws new clients in, while a strong end-to-end team makes it easy for them to return. He regards strong communication and full transparency as the foundation of client satisfaction, ensuring everyone stays on the same page from the first conversation through to settlement.
His success over the past 12 months comes down to two things working in tandem: a team that operates well together and fresh social media initiatives targeting the first-home buyers driving Wellington activity. It is a combination that has carried him through a slow market and back onto the Top Advisers list. Anastasiadis’ next chapter is about scale. He wants to grow the Bozinoff Mortgages brand and bring another one or two advisers into the team, extending the model that has served his clients and his own career so well.
