Profile
Ryan Smuts has been in lending since 2014, beginning with Kris Pedersen Mortgages (KPM) as a lending underwriter. Working closely with Kris through a changing market, Smuts developed an in-depth understanding of bank and non-bank lending criteria and helped build internal processes that keep applications running smoothly regardless of complexity.
In mid-2017, he became an accredited mortgage adviser and key account manager at KPM, drawing on his strength with numbers to provide annual financial reviews, arrange lending and deliver financial advice, risk management and property investment guidance to his portfolio of clients.
Smuts is committed to educating the market through webinars, blogs for various property associations and groups, and KPM’s social channels. His service, innovation and thought leadership earned him the “Excellence in Advice” award from Financial Advice New Zealand in 2018. NZ Adviser named him a 2019 Young Gun and a Top Adviser every year since.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University, double majoring in accountancy and marketing, and became a director and shareholder of KPM in April 2021. Property is his passion.
Smuts owns property in both Auckland and Rotorua and is always looking to expand his portfolio and knowledge while sharing his experience with clients.
