When clients shedding tears of joy ring you to express gratitude, it’s safe to say you’ve gone above and beyond their expectations. This is a regular occurrence at Loan Market Central in Remuera, Auckland, and it’s what relationship manager Karina Reardon describes as the most rewarding result the team could hope for.
As further confirmation of its remarkable performance, Loan Market Central has made the winning list of New Zealand Advisers of the Year for 2022.
The company prides itself on navigating the home-loan process for clients regardless of their circumstances. Prioritising people, Loan Market Central has strong referral networks and enjoys making an effort to always cultivate and grow these avenues.
Cam Marcroft, who leads the team, began with Loan Market in 2016 and has never looked back. Working previously for a third-party aggregator gave him the opportunity to polish his skills and the insight to ultimately create a blueprint with which to establish the company.
The brokerage's figures have continued to improve year-on-year even in these uncertain times with the COVID pandemic and related lockdowns.
“Having the support of the Loan Market corporate team to guide us through the pandemic has been amazing. Not only have they come up with campaigns to help our clients, but they have also helped the business owners by offering any support we needed through this time. This has really helped us to keep focused on creating great outcomes for our clients without having to worry about the backend,” Cam says.
“When the first lockdown happened there was a slight dip, but from there, we were busier than ever throughout that period, and things have only continued to grow.”
The challenge for the company has been adapting to remote work and communication whilst keeping up with the pace of enquiry.
“If anything, the move to online meetings versus in the office has allowed us to be more productive with our time, and this is what I think has given us more capacity to take on more customers. That, and the hard work and effort our amazing team of talented people puts in on a daily basis. Everyone is invested in this together and we have a genuine sense of care and responsibility for every client that comes into the business.”
Subscribing to the ethos “surround yourself with good people and good things will happen,” the company is constantly nurturing employees, assisting in their professional development, and putting a focus on their wellbeing.
Promoting a culture of sharing, staff members enjoy exchanging ideas and building on their knowledge. As an experienced mentor, he says the best advice he has ever received is “don’t focus on the numbers, focus on the people, and the numbers will come,” which has certainly proven to be the case at Loan Market Central.
The company now hopes to continue to be a sustainable and successful business that provides career development opportunities. With headquarters in Remuera and another local satellite office, expansion is something the company is looking to in the future.
Loan Market Central was founded in 2016 by mortgage adviser Cameron Marcroft. His aim was to build a sustainable business helping everyday Kiwis achieve their dream of owning a home. Over the years, the company has grown into an amazing and talented team of 11 staff and the service offering has extended to include insurance, asset finance and KiwiSaver, making it a true one-stop shop for all finance and insurance needs. Cam is also proud of the fact that all employees have the opportunity to develop and grow within the business. He provides them with the tools and mentorship to become advisers themselves through the Loan Market Central apprenticeship pathway. This has seen three of his support staff achieve their Level 5 certificate in financial services and become outstanding mortgage advisers in their own right under the guidance and mentorship of Cam.

Through lessons learned from 13 years of managing projects, developing business and holding various VP roles with his previous employer, Brent formulated his own approach to running his company. He knew that the key to success was based on relationships and bringing repeated value to them. He was dedicated to the idea that one does not need hundreds of clients and instead must focus on ensuring that a smaller pool of clients was given the best service possible. With over 40 years of construction management experience Brent has remarkable expertise in nearly every facet of the construction industry.
