Since the beginning, Andrew Malcolm has been the first caller for many people, which has given him insights into how people think about their mortgages and property investing. What he enjoys most about his role is offering ideas and feedback on how to improve people’s situations and plans. He believes that successful investing is mainly about simple ideas and avoiding mistakes, and sometimes these concepts are forgotten or ignored, and people need reminders on how to get back on the right path.
“When we first started the business, my friends and family were hesitant to jump on board with us, but it did not take long for them to see the value we bring. Now that we have lots of our closest network on board as clients we take enormous care and pride in providing excellent advice and service,” he says.
With two kids (a girl and a boy) along with a big German Shepherd and a much better half, Andrew has his hands full at home. His passions are reading widely and hitting the gym.

Blandon Leung’s journey in mortgage management started with a question: “How is a couple with ordinary jobs in their 30s able to own five properties while my own parents are still paying off their first mortgage in their 50s?” This made him realise what separates the very successful wealth builders from those who have retired satisfactorily with their house paid off and those who may have been unable to retire.
The answer simply came down to two differences: firstly, their perception of debt and secondly, how they managed it. When he learned this, it became his passion to share this knowledge. Eventually, he founded mortgagehq with Andrew Malcolm. Since then, the company has assisted thousands of Kiwi families to accelerate towards financial independence and continue to do so daily. One of the roles Blandon takes seriously is establishing a set of values, which mortgagehq uses to guide its decision making and day-to-day business. His accomplishments have led to recognition as one of NZ Adviser’s Top Mortgage Advisers from 2017 to 2020.
Outside of work, Blandon enjoys travelling with his family (he has a lovely wife and baby), jamming with his church band, going to the gym and working on his property developments.

mortgagehq was founded by Andrew Malcolm and Blandon Leung, who spotted an opportunity to bring new ideas and energy to the mortgage industry. The company started as an online platform that enabled Kiwis to obtain the lowest rates and find out how much they can save. As mortgagehq matured as a business, the team members learned that educating clients on harnessing leverage as a tool to build wealth was far more beneficial for the clients. Hence, this became their mission. They understand that to make their business a success, they must continually build the best support infrastructure so they can keep hiring and training some of the best young talent in
the industry.
